The collection of Sarmatian Gold from Orenburg Governor’s Regional Museum will become available for blind and visually impaired visitors. The signature exhibits — the ceremonial sword, the mirror and other objects dating V-IV centuries BC — have got their tactile copies for the visitors to examine them by touch.

These replicas were created with the help of “Art, Science and Sport” Charity Foundation as part of the “Special View” program, as Orenburg Governor’s Regional Museum previously became the winner of the competition “Creation of copies of museum exhibits”.

The models were produced in Mikhail and Olga Shu’s studio of tactile models in Moscow.

“This exhibition will be a continuation of our efforts to create inclusive environment in museum. We already have a program for kids with visual impairments called ‘Once upon a time there lived a queen...’ We aim to make the collection of Sarmatian Gold available for every visitor”, Alexander Ushakov, the director of the museum, tells.

It will become possible to study the tactile copies of the objects from the Sarmatian Gold collection starting from July 20, 2022, in the exhibition halls of Orenburg Governor’s Regional Museum. The tactile copies will stay in museum’s exposition on permanent basis.

Orenburg Governor’s Regional Museum became one of the winners of the grant competition to create tactile copies of the exhibits, which took place in the end of 2021.
